The Turkish Get Up Step by Step

Along with the Kettlebell Swing the Kettlebell Turkish Get Up delivers huge results. The Turkish Get Up, Turkish Stand Up or Kettlebell Stand Up is very different from the Swing in that it focuses on your small stabilising muscles and develops a solid movement foundation.   During human development we earn our right to progress onto more demanding movements. Babies learn to roll before they can crawl, and crawl before they can walk.   In today’s society of quick fixes we are all too impatient and don’t want to earn our movement skills anymore. Beginners often advance too quickly and end up injuring themselves. The Kettlebell Turkish Getup will not let you progress too quickly. It will stop you in your tracks. If you have a weak core, poor mobility or weak stabilising muscles then you won’t be able to complete the movement. OK, it’s time to see what you are made of and to earn your right to move like a warrior.   Quick video of the Kettlebell Turkish Get Up: Why would you want to do a Turkish Get Up?   1- Shoulder protection & rehabilitation The shoulder joint is a very vulnerable area of the body, it has to...

4 Minutes is all you Need

The funny thing about motivation is that you never have it when you are about to do the thing you told yourself you wanted to do WHEN you actually had the motivation to do it!  That is the definition of IRONIC, right? We all believe health and fitness is HARD.  That developing these habits mean we have to spend hours in the gym or attend hour long in person classes. This is not true! So instead of setting yourself up to fail, why not actually start with something that is actually doable and just easier and will have you feeling better in just a few days!   Let me introduce you this with my Magic 4 Minutes  The 4 Minute Workout   The 4 Minute Beginners kettlebell circuit. Yes, you read that right. 4 Minutes. Anyone can do a 4 minute workout, right? And honestly, 4 minutes is all you need when you are starting out. 4 mintues a day beats 1 hour a week. And kettlebell training is more like a practice (like yoga or martial arts) than exercise so doing something for 4-10 minutes every day is better than killing yourself and hurting for days after an hour...

Do you BELIEVE you can do it?

Do you believe you can do it? How much does your belief and your mindset matter in relation to transformation and building strength? How much does our mindset, our belief and our why affect our success? Do you want to develop the belief, strength and body of a Superhero?  Each week we will be going LIVE talking about the power of MINDSET when it comes to achieving your goals. And how my love of all things SUPERHERO have gotten me there! In a landscape obsessed with how we look, I’m obsessed with being STRONG. When you focus on strength, everything else takes care of itself.   When I found kettlebell training, finally my inner strength was reflected on the outside.   There is something epically bad a$$ about swinging a kettlebell or pressing it overhead.  You feel like Wonderwoman saving children stuck in a collapsed building.  Seriously.  When I train with kettlebells I always feel like I am Diana on the island of Themyscira practicing for the day that Ares returns.    So kettlebell training is not just a tool for me but a mindset. Imagine not having to be motivated to workout, imagine feeling amped and excited for your...

Why Kettlebells are the Perfect at Home Workout

I started my kettlebell journey in my living room.   Actually scratch that, it actually started in a bar...  I mean, don't most things in Ireland?   I share this exact story on my podcast as I interview my now good friend Rosa who inspired me to join her online programmes and do her kettlebell videos on YouTube. And that is where my journey started.  After buying my plastic coated, sand filled kettlebells from Davina McCall from Argos, I swung my kettlebells in my living room and even though I knew I didn't do it as well as I could or as long as I should I was getting results really quickly such as leaner arms and a leaner midsection.   Listen to that podcast episode here: Episode 14: “How home based kettlebell training changed our lives”- from two star crossed kettlebell instructors with Rosa Coelho The kettlebell is an extremely versatile piece of training equipment to have at home. Kettlebells offer unique training benefits over dumbbells—the uneven weight distribution will challenge you to control the weight as you swing, press, or pull. What is a Kettlebell? Kettlebells are cast-iron ball-shaped weights with handles that come in a variety of weights....
