We know already that exercise can help relieve pain.
In a 2009 study, researchers studied the effects of resistance training on subjects who suffered from fibromyalgia. They also had a subset of subjects perform resistance training and receive chiropractic treatment. The results were impressive: While both groups improved their strength, only the group that had strength training AND chiropractic care improved their strength, flexibility, balance, coordination and endurance. As well, they found it easier to adhere to their strength training.
So What Do The Experts Say?
Renowned chiropractor Dr. Dennis Lee had a fascinating interview with Bodybuilding.com, in which he explained why chiropractic treatment is a vital component of strength training. In the interview, he claims that if not using the proper form, muscles can overwork and in turn, cause the vertebrae and other joints to become misaligned. The result? Inflammation and decreased nervous function:
“So we try to decrease the amount of physical stress placed upon the body so that your immune system is able to worry about other things, such as injury, illness and disease, and not worry about the physical stress placed upon it.”
The beautiful thing about chiropractic care is that it provides a safe, drug-free, and natural way to not only relieve pain, but to treat the cause of pain at the source.
