I’ve been battling with my weight for most of my life. I’ve belonged to gyms galore: national chains (Vic Tanny’s, Gold’s Gym, Goodlife fitness), local fitness spots (so many I can’t remember the names) and more recently, I’ve signed up for every free workshop or program on the internet that promised help in changing my life through positive mindset and exercise.
I have tried many fitness apps: Beachbody on Demand, Daily Yoga, FitOn, and Glo, just to name a few. I’ve collected digital tools (including a Brazilian carnaval dance instruction set) and had started buying equipment that I already knew I probably wouldn’t use (a control freak from Beachbody, a set of resistance bands (booty AND body) from Arena). But none of these attempts at changing my life were successful (although the bands were extremely useful for the first few weeks of the WGKBT program!). I didn’t know how to start. I needed guidance. And I was totally getting depressed because I felt like my chances to win the battle were diminishing.
A Facebook ad for the Sexy Strong Program from Warrior Goddess Kettlebell Training showed up in my feed (they knew I opened every single ad for a fitness program). There was going to be a free masterclass in a few days – guess what I did? I signed up for it (of course). And missed it (for a legitimate reason). Something just kept telling me to try again. I emailed WGKBT and commented on the ad, asking how I could sign up for the next masterclass. And…I showed up for myself!
I was so impressed with the completeness of the program and really wanted to just jump in. There was a cost to it – not prohibitive, but certainly more than I had access to. The more I listened to Lisa, the more I saw that this program offers not only the hand holding through the meal and training plans, but actually has an outstanding educational component, so members become more knowledgeable about their bodies and how various nutrients work. There is also instruction on eating, training, and planning your meal programs. Lisa offers education around supplements, hormones, meal planning,…and there’s a community of like-minded women who support and encourage each other through the entire process.
I already had all the free stuff – and I wasn’t doing anything with it. Then it dawned on me – if I make a formal investment in my health and well being, I might be more inclined show up for myself! I had to withdraw funds from the share ownership plan offered by the company I work for in order to participate. And I don’t regret a single penny of it! I was a bit overwhelmed to begin with but I managed to work through much of the materials and began to do my daily training. At the same time, I began eating for the purpose of training and being good to my body.
Six weeks later, I’m proud to say that I’ve shed 5lbs and 33 cm! I’m well into my journey of health and strength.
As we move into the next phase of the year, I’m looking forward to putting together my own meal plan and building muscle as I burn fat. I love the challenges that Lisa has set up for us throughout the journey, and I look forward to being my best self!
Thank you WGKBT ❤????
