My weight has fluctuated pretty much all my life. I tried pills and shakes as well as several of the diet trends out there like high fat, low carb. I purchased many meals and exercise plans from tv, magazines and Facebook ads. I was always chasing something that would help me lose some weight but I couldn’t seem to stick with anything for more than a few days. I would do well for a few days and then decide I didn’t like the food or exercises; I didn’t have money to purchase everything needed or I just got bored. I have so many books, DVDs, pdf files, and exercise equipment that I have either barely used or haven’t used at all. I gave up trying for a while and then I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and arthritis and my doctor said exercise may alleviate some pain.

So, I was back at the ever-expanding swirl of conflicting information, trying to find something that would finally work. That is when I came across Lisa’s Stronger Now 5 Day Challenge on Facebook. I was initially interested in this challenge because it dealt with goals and I have a hard time creating and following through with them on my own. I was actually able to create a goal, figure out the steps I needed to complete the goal, and actually achieved it!

When Lisa was talking about another challenge that she was holding I just had to join because I knew I would rock it with Lisa’s help. That is when I joined the 6 Week Unicorn Transformation Challenge. I was reading through the materials and noticed the program stressed the importance of mindfulness, rest, and self-care above training. This was so different from the other programs I tried in the past and thought it must mean something. It took a little while to read the information and get the hang of meal prepping, but, thankfully the program has a prep week and includes an easy-to-follow meal plan. I am so glad I joined and listened to Lisa because I lost 6.2lbs and 26.5cm.

I followed many different diets and hit the gym six times a week with disappointing results losing a little weight and putting more on and nothing changing except feeling more down and hopeless of getting out of the cycle.

I commenced my 6 week challenge feeling a bit apprehensive. But I’d tried for a whole year to make a change in my body shape (I just had to loose weight.) I just couldn’t get any momentum, even if I ate ‘healthy’ and I was doing three days a week of functional training and a slow jog a few times a week, the weight was so slow in coming off I’d give up and binge and then I’d be back at the beginning again.
