I grew up with 5 brothers in a house of sci fi, Doctor Who and Monkey Magic where my brothers all studied Kung Fu.  As a young girl I watched, played and pretended to be She Ra, the Princess of Power with her winged unicorn Swift Wind.

Feeling a bit apprehensive before I started

“I commenced my 6 week challenge feeling a bit apprehensive. But I’d tried for a whole year to make a change in my body shape (I just had to loose weight.) I just couldn’t get any momentum, even if I ate ‘healthy’ and I was doing three days a week of hr functional training and a slow jog a few times a week, the weight was so slow in coming off I’d give up and binge and then I’d be back at the beginning again.

So, all into being a warror goddess. I committed, I prioritised, I organised and I followed the food plan and exercised when I was supposed to, and not more (though it’s hard to trust the process when you have been used to hour long sessions day after day).

I had a few miss steps with my food over the course of the weeks, some emotional binging – I use food as a self harm tool I’ve discovered. And with two young kids, sleep, or rather lack of, can prove an enemy to motivation, self discipline. But I committed.

I loved the kettlebell training, especially shoes off, it makes the experience more meditative, a practice, rather than training. And it’s easy to prioritise the sprints when you know the hard bit is only 4 minutes.

I really used the Facebook group page every day, I almost miss the posting of my food daily and taking a moment to reflect on my day. Plus the encouragement and support from other challengers was really helpful.

Lisa’s enthusiasm, dedication and obviously huge interest in women’s health and wellbeing, and spirituality and empowerment has been inspiring and evoked much trust very quickly. I really admire and respect her and I’m so pleased to have discovered her program. It’s been a real game changer for me.

I ended up loosing about 5kg and have gone down at least a dress size (which is amazing!) I’m feeling fitter and much more in control of my eating. I’m hanging out to do some training, but know it can be a walk in the park with momentum rather than killing myself.

OMG Did I make a mistake?

“Why did I decide to join up? Simple really, I’m 46 and over the last year my weight has been climbing steadily as well as my measurements. I would weight train 3-4 times per week, and I can lift heavy, but I was not doing much cardio/hit training and after a bad bout of sinusitis which lasted nearly 2months this style of training felt virtually impossible.

I had heard of Lisa and Warrior Goddess Training and with the onset of Covid-19 and increased working from home knew the time had come. I watched the webinair and contacted Lisa about joining the programme, and when I received the link to the programme my first thoughts were,

“OMG, I’ve made a mistake. This isn’t going to work for me, I wonder if I can cancel?”

I read though the information, watched the videos and somewhere in the process the penny dropped, and I got it and understood where Lisa was coming from and what she was asking me to do.

Did it challenge I thought about diet and training?

Yes, but I knew that unless I changed something and started doing something differently, I’d be in the same position. I know I didn’t have a huge amount of weight to lose but I wasn’t able to stick to anything and if I stayed on this path then heaven knows what!

The 6 weeks programme has opened my eyes to the importance of carb cycling and corresponding workouts, prior to this I would think sure I’ve trained today I can eat healthy and stay within a certain calorie limit and it’ll be fine.

This has been one of the light bulb moments of the programme and something that I’m taking forward with me.

Also understanding training throughout the month and around my cycle has been another, knowing when to push myself and knowing when to pull back and listen to my body.

As a result my energy levels have become more level and consistent throughout the month, prior to doing the programme that week before my period I was so tired (could literally sleep on a knife edge) and hormonal (teared up at EVERYTHING) but quite quickly I’ve got a good balance.

There are still occasional days where it’s been busy or I had not as sound a sleep as I would have liked and I think nothing of having a power nap or going and laying down to just chill and relax my body.

The way of eating, the mixture of plant based and meat eating (I would only eat chicken, turkey and a small amount of white fish prior to programme) has not only benefitted me but my family.

There’s so much information out there and so much conflicting information aimed at my age group (perimenopausal) that the range of food I was eating was becoming more limited, but following the programme and trying both the plant based for meat eaters and vegan recipes has brought foods that I enjoyed and has stopped eating back.

I would have taken a few supplements prior to the programme but have now added a few in as they have helped me and combat some recurring problems. The added bonus is my 17yr old daughter who would have been very active (A levels, dancing, fencing, orchestra and part time job) and lived off carbs has introduced more protein to her diet by watching me prepare my meals and she’s loving the vegan protein powder. I could never get her to take a protein shake before this as she didn’t like the texture, but now she uses protein powder in her breakfast (porridge and pancakes are the current favs) and with a small bit of suggestion takes a shake after she’s had a zoom training session for dance/fencing.

I had a moment a few days after completing the 6 week programme, I had to go into the office for a meeting and needed to wear smart trousers. I hadn’t ironed my usual ones and grabbed a pair that I hadn’t worn comfortably in easily 9months, and guess what? They fitted, they were comfortable, and my butt looked perky so I could walk past the 20/30 somethings and feel great in myself.

My plans are to continue with the Wheel of the Year programme, I’ve worked out my macros and wrapped my head around meal planning and have some strength and body goals I want to achieve.

If someone asked me should I do the programme, my answer would be YES! Invest in yourself, get ready to challenge yourself but the results (mental, physical, emotional) are worth it.”

From Injury to Strong & Proud

From Dieting & Back Pain to Eating & Training

“I joined the Warrior Goddess tribe to help with my back injury. I’d injured my back a few times and had to stop running. I started with the 6 week programme did 1 – 2 workouts per week. It was coming up to Christmas and I stopped working out. I found by Jan, I had gained 14 lbs since the previous year. In Jan I went back to my low Cal diet 1200 – 1400 cals and back to working out. My weight gain wasn’t coming off. In Feb I recommitted to working out,  still doing my own diet programme doing 4-5 workouts a week- still my weight remained the same.

Lisa announced the the 90 day sexy strong challenge, I wasn’t really convinced carb cycling would work. To be honest I was terrified I would gain weight. I had to eat 1900 – 2500 cals on some days!

Before the challenge kicked off I read and read and re- read all the information on the carb cycling plan. I needed to understand the plan to give it my best shot.

The first 30 days passed I started to notice a difference in my body, mood and health. The second 30 days passed friends and family and fellow goddess started to notice the physical changes to my body. I am now on my 5 challenge. I have lost 14 lbs ++ but I’ve gained a body which I am proud off. My health has improved from hormone imbalances, improvement with my psoriasis and my mental health.

I love kettlebell training as I am constantly being challenged, improving my fitness and strength. Lisa has a special knack of keeping all the classes interesting and fun!

I was surprised how tasty the food was

I have just completed my 6 week challenge and I am so glad I did it.  Lisa and the team are very supportive and are there to advise every step of the way.

This challenge gave me the head start I needed to start my journey.  I have tried other plans and not stuck to them.

Being a lady in her mid forties and all that goes with this I.e. hormone fluctuations, its reassuring that I have someone who understands my challenges and can guide me in terms of food, exercise and supplements for what my body needs.

I made alot of the recipes provided by Lisa and I have to say I wasn’t sure about some of the ingredients but I tried them and was pleasantly surprised how tasty the food was.

The training plans laid out each week were great to follow and were recorded on a digital studio to enable me to practise step by step to improve my form.

I highly recommend this plan and I am proud to be one of the warrior goddesses.

I always thought I was eating healthily

“The one big thing I can say about fully embracing this plan is that I am now in control of my appetite and free from the power of blood sugar highs and lows and all the associated bad food choices, binges and sugary “fixes” which have led to me putting on weight, even though I thought I was eating healthily. The key is the protein. And then there’s the carbs. And then there’s doing the sweaty exercise properly! Lisa takes you through all of it and makes it easy to understand and easy to follow. There is a heck of a lot of information in this programme. It’s all really well mapped out and explained. You can go deeper if you like to do that or take a simple approach if you prefer. There are quick easy to get into exercise plans you can do in your own bedroom if you can’t get to her classes (which are also a breath of fresh air btw!). There are daily menus and recipes which are not only quick and easy but really really tasty. I love my food so this is very important to me. Let me tell you this: when you follow this plan you do NOT feel like you’re on a “diet”.
For me this is a really different way of looking at what you eat and when, but it works and when Lisa takes you through it, you understand it too. And as I said at the top, once you get the hang of it, you’re not hungry. I’m fact I haven’t been old-me “hungry” since I started to follow the plan properly, even on the fasting days! This means I’m not jumping on crisps, buns, bread and sweets when I feel like it. I’m aware of what I’m eating and making the right choices. That feels really good!
I would say if you want to do this, it’s easy to follow but you should read around it a lot, get prepared, be organised and commit. It works. I lost 11lbs in 28 days, I feel so much better about myself and I’m now in control of my appetite. Go for it and give it your all, it’s totally worth a bit of planning and a new way of thinking to set you up with lifelong healthy eating habits. I’m now also getting my confidence up with swinging kettlebells, feeling stronger week by week and seeing my shape change. People have remarked on my shape just narrowing in. Feeling a bit apprehensive before I started

“I commenced my 6 week challenge feeling a bit apprehensive. But I’d tried for a whole year to make a change in my body shape (I just had to loose weight.) I just couldn’t get any momentum, even if I ate ‘healthy’ and I was doing three days a week of hr functional training and a slow jog a few times a week, the weight was so slow in coming off I’d give up and binge and then I’d be back at the beginning again.

So, all into being a warror goddess. I committed, I prioritised, I organised and I followed the food plan and exercised when I was supposed to, and not more (though it’s hard to trust the process when you have been used to hour long sessions day after day).

I had a few miss steps with my food over the course of the weeks, some emotional binging – I use food as a self harm tool I’ve discovered. And with two young kids, sleep, or rather lack of, can prove an enemy to motivation, self discipline. But I committed.

I loved the kettlebell training, especially shoes off, it makes the experience more meditative, a practice, rather than training. And it’s easy to prioritise the sprints when you know the hard bit is only 4 minutes.

I really used the Facebook group page every day, I almost miss the posting of my food daily and taking a moment to reflect on my day. Plus the encouragement and support from other challengers was really helpful.

OMG Did I make a mistake?

“Why did I decide to join up? Simple really, I’m 46 and over the last year my weight has been climbing steadily as well as my measurements. I would weight train 3-4 times per week, and I can lift heavy, but I was not doing much cardio/hit training and after a bad bout of sinusitis which lasted nearly 2months this style of training felt virtually impossible.

I had heard of Lisa and Warrior Goddess Training and with the onset of Covid-19 and increased working from home knew the time had come. I watched the webinair and contacted Lisa about joining the programme, and when I received the link to the programme my first thoughts were,

“OMG, I’ve made a mistake. This isn’t going to work for me, I wonder if I can cancel?”

I read though the information, watched the videos and somewhere in the process the penny dropped, and I got it and understood where Lisa was coming from and what she was asking me to do.

Did it challenge I thought about diet and training?

Yes, but I knew that unless I changed something and started doing something differently, I’d be in the same position. I know I didn’t have a huge amount of weight to lose but I wasn’t able to stick to anything and if I stayed on this path then heaven knows what!

The 6 weeks programme has opened my eyes to the importance of carb cycling and corresponding workouts, prior to this I would think sure I’ve trained today I can eat healthy and stay within a certain calorie limit and it’ll be fine.

This has been one of the light bulb moments of the programme and something that I’m taking forward with me.

Also understanding training throughout the month and around my cycle has been another, knowing when to push myself and knowing when to pull back and listen to my body.

As a result my energy levels have become more level and consistent throughout the month, prior to doing the programme that week before my period I was so tired (could literally sleep on a knife edge) and hormonal (teared up at EVERYTHING) but quite quickly I’ve got a good balance.

There are still occasional days where it’s been busy or I had not as sound a sleep as I would have liked and I think nothing of having a power nap or going and laying down to just chill and relax my body.

The way of eating, the mixture of plant based and meat eating (I would only eat chicken, turkey and a small amount of white fish prior to programme) has not only benefitted me but my family.

There’s so much information out there and so much conflicting information aimed at my age group (perimenopausal) that the range of food I was eating was becoming more limited, but following the programme and trying both the plant based for meat eaters and vegan recipes has brought foods that I enjoyed and has stopped eating back.

I would have taken a few supplements prior to the programme but have now added a few in as they have helped me and combat some recurring problems. The added bonus is my 17yr old daughter who would have been very active (A levels, dancing, fencing, orchestra and part time job) and lived off carbs has introduced more protein to her diet by watching me prepare my meals and she’s loving the vegan protein powder. I could never get her to take a protein shake before this as she didn’t like the texture, but now she uses protein powder in her breakfast (porridge and pancakes are the current favs) and with a small bit of suggestion takes a shake after she’s had a zoom training session for dance/fencing.

I had a moment a few days after completing the 6 week programme, I had to go into the office for a meeting and needed to wear smart trousers. I hadn’t ironed my usual ones and grabbed a pair that I hadn’t worn comfortably in easily 9months, and guess what? They fitted, they were comfortable, and my butt looked perky so I could walk past the 20/30 somethings and feel great in myself.

My plans are to continue with the Wheel of the Year programme, I’ve worked out my macros and wrapped my head around meal planning and have some strength and body goals I want to achieve.

Q:Do I have to eat a plant based diet?

A: Focusing on more leafy greens, vegetables and fruits in your diet is essential for long term health, energy and for healthy weightloss. It is encouraged that you follow a diet more heavily focused on plants but this does not mean you have to be vegan or vegetarian to do so. This programme provides recipes and menu plans for meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans alike, focusing on eating more plants. 

Q: What if I don’t like broccoli (or insert food here)?

A: This programme is both guide and teacher.  For those that simply want to follow a day by day and meal by meal plan it is laid out for you or you can use the tools and information to craft your own meal plans.  We also provide recommend additional nutritional support through whole food supplements. Q: Will I really get a refund?

Q: Do I have to do the workouts or can I just follow the eating plan?

A: The crux of this programme is based on carb cycling.  This is an intentional variaion of your carbohyrate intake based on the workouts you will be doing to maximise fat burn and energy levels.  Without the exercise, you will not be maximising your fat burning potential or helping your body to build lean muscle which is the key element in looking leaner and curvier

That said, following either the workout plan or nutritional plan will deliver short term results, just not maximize the fat burning potential of when paired together… like shampoo and conditioner!!

Q: What happens if I can’t workout 3 times a week?

The magic number for exercising for a short term goal is a minimum of 3 (though 4 is better).  This means at least 3 kettlebell workouts of 10-30 minutes in a week.  (The first week is only 4 minute workouts so easily to fit into your schedule) We are talking less than 2 hours a week! 

Q: I have never lifted a kettlebell in my life, am I strong/fit enough to do this programme?

A: What I love about kettlebells is that they are the perfect beginners strength training tool for women.  They are compact, easy to use, effective and inexpensive and you can do so much with them from your own home. I currently have clients in their 50-60s who have never lifted a weight now leaner, stronger and fitter in a few weeks!

Q: Where do I get kettlebells from?

A: I have researched far and wide to find the perfect kettlebell for my goddesses.  I have written a blog post about this and a whole video is dedicated to this in the classroom  to aid in the process.  A beginners kit should not set you back more than $40- maybe only $30.

Q: What is carb cycling?

A: A carb cycling program is an intentional variation of carbohydrate intake each week. Most carb cycling plans consist of high carb days and low carb days. In all of my programs, base our cycle on the workouts we will be doing to maximize fat burn and energy levels.

Q: Am I a good fit for this program?

A: This program is for women only (men can invest in the program but can’t be in any of the Facebook Groups). In addition, this program has been incredibly successful for women who are beginners to strength training to those more active and with under 2 stone to lose. My program is geared for you to be active 3 times a week and will require commitment to that.

Q: Do I need a gym membership to complete the Warrior Goddess Body programme?

A: No, this is a one of the key benefits of this programme that can save you time and money. The workouts are designed for easy to follow, quick and effective home workouts.  If you wish, you could easily do them in a gym with a small amount of space.

Q: Do I have to follow a strict meal plan?

A. I provide guidelines for each day of our food cycle. For example, on low carb day I will indicate that your goal is to consume less than 50g net carbs. I will explain how to calculate your macros (carbs, fats, protein) and also give you a sample meal plan and recipes. However, you will have the flexibility to consume the foods you truly enjoy. This is not a diet.  It is a eating programme.  You just need to learn what to eat in relation to your day and cycle.

Q: Am I required to be on Facebook to join the program?

A: We recommend this as a lot of the support, questions and motivation is deliverd in our 24/7 Facebook group. Most of my clients choose to join our Facebook community group for daily tips and accountability. While I do recommend you join the Facebook group, it is not required for participation in the program.

Q: Do I have to do the programme right away?

A: One of the best things about this programme is that you have FOREVER Lifetime Access to the information in our digital classroom but once you START the 6 week challenge you cannot restart it unless you sign up and take it again.  You will only have access to the Facebook Community for the 6 weeks of your challenge. This means you can start the programme today and in 6 weeks you then move into our VIP Community and the next step in your Body Shape Change journey.

Q: I have a back/shoulder/knee injury, how can I adapt the exercises?

A: If you have been passed by a doctor and physio to exercise, then you are still able to workout. All exercises can be modified. You may just need to reduce the amount of reps and exercise more frequently rather than for longer periods of time. 5 x10 minute workouts is better than 1 hour a week.

Q: I have lower back pain, will I have to restrict some movements?

A: Did you know that at least 1 in every 3 of my clients tell me they have lower back pain? What I love about kettlebells is that it is the answer to reverse lower back pain. The exercises will help to build up strength in this area to relieve pain and give you strength.

Q: I don’t want to get bulky from the weights, will they make me bulky?

A: Weights don’t make you bulky, eating cupcakes do! haha What I love about kettlebells particularly is you get strength training but in an easy to use and fun little bullet. This is what you need to get truly lean and toned. It was when Lisa made the switch to kettlebells and strength training, away from endless cardio, that she got her flattest stomach of her life and awesome arms too! If you look at her (all 5ft of fairy ninja) she has been lifting with kettlebells for 5 years and is by no means bulky!

Q: Aren’t kettlebells really heavy? What if I am not strong enough?

A: Kettlebells are designed to help you get stronger in a dynamic and safe way and work on the important posterior kinetic chain of your glutes, hamstrings, hips and core.  Most of the moves we do work your lower body primarily.  Any upper body exercises we do use a lighter kettlebell and help you to gradually build up the fitness and strength week by week.  You will notice how quickly your body responds to these exercises for building strength as well as cardio vascular fitness.

Q: Do I have to buy protein powder or other shakes and pills?

A: We do advocate a Proothie- a protein smoothie as a cost effective and easy tool to help you to break your fast and reach your protein goals each day but this is not necessary if you are willing to eat additional protein and plants. That said, in my experience most women undereat protein by 100% and do not get enough essential phytonutrients in their diet which these supplements can bridge the gap for but it is entirely up to you.
