Do As Much As Necessary, Not As Possible

Do As Much As Necessary, Not As Possible Do as much as necessary, not as much as possible! One of the topics that have come up so much these days - and I thought that I need to address this via video - is about over-exercising. Or under-exercising. Or how much exercise should I be doing? I heard this quote once and I'm totally on board with this, “Do as much as necessary, not as much as possible. More is not better, it is just more”. Doubling your effort does not double your result when it comes to exercise. When it comes to over-exercising (or under-exercising) it’s really about your intention. Why do you need to exercise? Most of us feel that we need to exercise as a punishment for what we eat. And most of the time we just wing it, not having a clear goal in mind. So what I suggest is to find your own Goldilocks Solution and just the right amount of training for your goals, your body, your stage of life and your fitness level. Also, remind yourself that the whole point of the exercise is to be fun, fast, and effective. You don’t want...

Why Strength Training Is Life Saving over 40

Why Strength Training Is Life Saving over 40 One of the most common questions I get is about injury or pain or an existing condition that we believe is stopping you from exercise. I hear it all the time, "I can't train but I have a bad knee, shoulder, wrist or I have back issues or in pain." And I get it. But I also hear, I'm not fit enough for working out or strong enough for strength training too. So what is the answer? Firstly, it is simple.  If your doctor or physio has passed you to exercise, then the rest is just about finding your own way to do it from modifications, your starting point, how much exercise to do, using what tool and of course prehab, mobility and rehab work. Strength training in relation to injury It can be just an excuse and the one thing that stopping you to get what you want. To get fitter and stronger, you have to train. Why older adult (over 40+) whose strength train at least 2 times a week had 46% lower odds of death for any reason, 5% lower odds of cardiac death, and 19% lower odds of...

Do you BELIEVE you can do it?

Do you believe you can do it? How much does your belief and your mindset matter in relation to transformation and building strength? How much does our mindset, our belief and our why affect our success? Do you want to develop the belief, strength and body of a Superhero?  Each week we will be going LIVE talking about the power of MINDSET when it comes to achieving your goals. And how my love of all things SUPERHERO have gotten me there! In a landscape obsessed with how we look, I’m obsessed with being STRONG. When you focus on strength, everything else takes care of itself.   When I found kettlebell training, finally my inner strength was reflected on the outside.   There is something epically bad a$$ about swinging a kettlebell or pressing it overhead.  You feel like Wonderwoman saving children stuck in a collapsed building.  Seriously.  When I train with kettlebells I always feel like I am Diana on the island of Themyscira practicing for the day that Ares returns.    So kettlebell training is not just a tool for me but a mindset. Imagine not having to be motivated to workout, imagine feeling amped and excited for your...

Why Keto doesn’t work longterm for women over 40

Why keto doesn't work for women over 40
First of all, what is the ketogenic diet, what does it do and why is it popular?   So the ketogenic diet, in essence, is a low carb diet where you’re eating less than 50g of carbs per day and you’re getting your main fuel from foods rich in protein and fats and those are the macronutrients that you concentrate on. So the reason why this works because you’re putting your body in a state of ketosis which is teaching your body to fuel itself from fat, more specifically the glycogen that’s already stored inside of your own fat cells rather than using carbohydrates you consume. I have followed a low carb diet myself but I've always done it in a carb cycling format so I’ve never been on 100% keto because of the reasons I will tell you and also because I know my body in terms of what I’m trying to achieve. That said, there are positive about the Keto Diet, I like how Keto motivates people into eating less processed food but when you take out a whole macronutrient for long term, in my experience of my female clients I see side effects like major headaches, migraines,...

What is a PROOTHIE? Best weight loss tip ever!

Today we’re talking about a healthy drink that’s not only going to give you a boost in the morning but will also help you lose weight. You’re probably asking yourself: What is a freaking proothie?! Well, a proothie is a protein smoothie. See what I did there? ? This is the fundamental principle that I teach each and every one of my clients who want to start to lose fat and boost your metabolism. You need to break your fast in the morning with 30g of protein. I learned this simple tip from Tim Ferriss’ 4 Hour Body Book. He scientifically proved that 30g of protein will not only shift and increase your metabolism by 30% when you do this on a regular basis (it’s vital for fat loss to increase your metabolism), but will also keep you satiated so you’re not hungry sooner. Here are more benefits of consuming 30g of protein:  it will stop the crazy mood swings it will stop you from turning to coffee for energy it balances out sugar cravings and keeps your insulin levels nice and steady it will actually get you to the point where you’re bouncing out of bed in the morning…

Is your body aging too fast?

Is your body aging too fast?

Is your body aging too fast? What does that even mean? And THREE tips to boost your metabolism to that of a 20-year-old! So what I want to talk about in reference to aging is your metabolism because that’s really what we’re talking about here. There’s quite a misunderstanding on what metabolism is and what it does. In fact, I hear all the time that people blame their metabolism. “It’s not fair, she has a good metabolism, she can eat as much as she likes and never puts on weight” or that it’s their metabolism to blame when they put on weight.  Or the best one I hear is that your metabolism is genetic. I’m here to tell you that it’s not true but it’s also kinda true at the same time! Your metabolism is in essence the burning of calories to turn it into energy to allow your body, it’s organs, muscle etc to work efficiently.  It’s the efficacy of your body system to be able to use all of its organs and systems successfully.  Your metabolism is a sign that your body is working well and it’s the sign that your body is able to burn fat. A…
